On Sunday, May 11th, Hapoel Sports will be sponsoring a day of Major League Baseball and USA Jr. Olympics sports competitions. The sports include baseball, soccer, tennis, basketball and track & field. The top-three finishers for each sport by age group will qualify for the regional event which will lead to… the national finals! The details of this event is listed directly below.
Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run and USA Jr. Olympic Skills Competition
What: The relevant sports for each of these events are MLB Pitch, Hit & Run (baseball) and USA Jr. Olympic Skills Competition (basketball, soccer, tennis and track & field). All participants will have an opportunity to advance through three levels of competition: local, regional and the national finals.
Who: Boys and Girl between the ages of eight and thirteen will compete separately in four different age groups for MLB Pitch Hit & Run (7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 with participant’s eligibility determined as of July 17, 2008) and three different age groups for the Jr. Olympics (8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 with participant’s eligibility determined as of August 31, 2008).
When: Sunday, May 11th, 2008. The competition times for each sport is as follows:
10 until 11 or Completed – Soccer
11:00 until 12:00 – Basketball
12:00 until 1:00 – Track & Field
1:00 until 2:00 – Tennis
2:00 until 3:00 - Baseball
Where: Layhill Village Local Park (1920 Queensguard Rd. in Silver Spring)

We completed our local MLB Pitch, Hit & Run event for 2008 and, the winners were.
We also completed our local Jr. Olympics Soccer, Basketball, Track & Field and Tennis and the winners were.
The regional event for the Pitch, Hit & Run is TBD. The regional Jr. Olympics Soccer, Basketball, Track & Field and Tennis event will be on Sunday, June 15th, at Layhill Village Park. We wish our local athletes good mazel on these upcoming events and look forward to hearing about more successes!
