Soccer-cise Weekly Update Week 2

The soccer-cise kids were greeeeeeat this week. Besides demonstrating their flexibility, sprinting speed, their ability to pass the soccer ball, and their ability to play soccer, unsolicited, several players also showed us their big muscles. SUPER impressive.

The kids were much better acclimated to soccer-cise, kicking the ball, being surrounded by so many people, etc. this week. G-d willing, this trend will continue. For the little guys, it seems like 90% of their enjoying the game of soccer is just being able to relax and... enjoy the game of soccer.

As an FYI, I received an e-mail from Winnie-the-Pooh this morning and he wanted me to tell all the soccer-cise kids that he enjoyed his day of soccer and he hopes to see all the kiddies soon. He's hoping it won't be so hot, but, none the less, he's anxious to see the kids again. :) And, who knows. Maybe next time he'll bring a friend.

Soccer-cise Weekly Update Week 3

Soccer-cise Weekly Update Week 3

As usual, the soccer-cise kids were great this week. Every week, the kids are a little better oriented, a little more comfortable with the ball, a little more comfortable following instructions, etc. and... The kids are doing great.

The kids are getting more flexible (if this is possible), they are getting faster (if this is possible), and they are picking up the basics of soccer. They learned how to dribble, how to pass, and, this Sunday, they learned how to shoot on goal. This is a great start. While the kids aren't necessarily hitting 50 yard driving passes to each other with their opposite foot, they are learning that there is a pass where you use your shoelaces on your opposite foot to strike the ball and, conceptually, this is how you do it. This is a very good thing. Next Sunday, The plan is to talk to the little mensches about defense.

Rumor has it that Winnie or Tigger will be showing up this coming Sunday but... I also heard that a really short super-hero may be joining them. Again, just a rumor.

Soccer-cise Weekly Update Week 4

The soccer-cise kids were great again this week. Not only did the kids look great relative to how they've progressed since Week One, they also look great relative to soccer-cise seasons passed.

After three weeks of working on offensive play (dribbling, passing, and shooting), we spent this week working on defense. This included what it means to be "goal-side", how far and how close we should be to an offensive player when we're playing defense, and the proper technique for a tackle. The kids worked on this with a partner and then put their new learning into play in the games.

The kids really looked great during the games. We just completed Week Four, the half-way point of the season, and the kids are making great progress. This past Sunday particularly. Keep up the good work, kids!

Lastly, as an FYI, Batman enjoyed himself enormously last week and is heavily considering joining the Hapoel Soccer Club. And, as always, Winnie the Pooh was very happy to see you guys. Matter of fact, Winnie told Tigger about how much fun he had and Tigger said he has to come back this coming Sunday. And, who knows, maybe he'll bring a friend. :)

Soccer-cise Weekly Update Week 5

The soccer-cise kids were great AGAIN this week. The kids are running, dribbling, kicking, and... What more do you want from thees little cuties! the kids are becoming more independent (e.g. staying on the field more and running to their parents less) and... The kids are doing great.

So, for three weeks we worked on offensive play: dribbling, passing, and shooting. Last week we worked on defense. This week we worked on Team Offense. More specifically, passing the ball to a teammate and having the teammate pass it right back. This pass is called a wall pass.

Though the kids still need more practice on their passing, there were certainly numerous great passes to be seen. Some great passes, great runs, great shots, great goals, great defense... Lots of great play. Keep up the good work, kids!

Lastly, Tigger had a GREAAAAAAAAAT time with the kiddies on Sunday. He can't wait to come again. For this coming Sunday, Pooh said he wants to come and he said he wants to bring stickers! See you Sunday!

Soccer-cise Weekly Update Week 6

The soccer-cise kids are making such great progress. While we could hardly call our soccer games in Week 1, "games", what we saw in Week 6 was MUCH improved. The kids are doing great.

This week we worked on dribbling and, more specifically, having a "go-to move". The kids understood the basic idea but, like all the other skills we've covered, the cuties need to practice. Keep up the good work, kids!

Lastly, Pooh loves the soccer-cise kids! He can't wait to come again. For this coming Sunday, unfortunately, I don't know if Pooh or Tigger will be able to make it. We'll have to see. With this said, I've heard a rumor that both may be coming for Week 8!
